Green leafy vegetables can reduce the risk of diabetes

Green leafy vegetables significantly reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, according to a survey conducted at the University of Leicester, and published in the British Medical Journal. It is significant discovery since the number of those suffering from this dangerous disease is growing worldwide.
Head of Research Patrice Carter and his colleagues analyzed six studies with over 220,000 respondents who were involved in linkage of fruits and vegetables with type 2 diabetes The results showed that half past one serving of green leafy vegetables ( spinach) more each day reduces the risk of diabetes by 14 percent.

However, consuming large amounts of fruits and vegetables together do not significantly influence the risk reduction.
Researchers Jim Mann from New Zealand's Otago University and Dagfinn Aune from London Imperial College, but notes that additional research is needed and that it is too early to conclude that it is necessary to eat green leafy vegetables to reduce the risk of diabetes.
